Varazze

Entertainment, Sports and Relaxation in Varazze

There are many reasons to come to Varazze…the sea, nature, sports, the climate, whatever season you choose to spend your vacation here. Varazze is a characteristic Ligurian village, nestled along the coast, with narrow alleyways leading to the sea and small squares surrounded by typical colorful houses. Varazze is also a city of art and history, featuring the Church of Sant’Ambrogio with its Romanesque-Gothic bell tower, the Palace of Beato Jacopo, the Church of SS Nazario and Celso, the Church of San Domenico, the oratories, the small Church of Santa Caterina and Villa Cilea.
In the western part of Varazze, there are several towers and long stretches of the city walls, the “old walls”.

LUNGOMARE EUROPA
The promenade, which winds along the entire Varazze coastline, extends for five kilometers between Piani d’Invrea and the sea.
Just steps from the center, you find yourself completely immersed in nature among pines,
mimosas, oleanders, broom, palms, olive trees, close to the cliffs, with equipped areas for rest and children’s play. It is the ideal place for jogging, cycling, and rollerblading.

THE BEACH
From May to September, the beach is filled with cabins, umbrellas and deck chairs.
Beach volleyball tournaments, aerobics classes, water aerobics, gentle gymnastics, swimming and entertainment for children.

THE HINTERLAND
Within a few minutes by car, you can reach the hamlets of Varazze: Castagnabuona, Pero, Cantalupo, Casanova, Alpicella, Faje.
There are many different hiking trails that wind through woods of oaks, beeches, holm oaks, chestnuts and conifers.
Visit the Exhibition of Rural Life at Alpicella and the botanical trail of the Hermitage of the Desert.
Upon reaching the summit of Mount Beigua, the incredible panorama that can be admired on clear days is immediately striking.
We are at 1,287 meters above sea level on the Apennine watershed, where the Alta Via hiking route passes, and our view embraces almost the entire Ligurian coastal arc to the south, from Capo Mele to the Apuan Alps.
To the west we see the entire arc of the Maritime Alps.
Then turning north, Monte Viso, and beyond the Po Valley, Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa can be distinguished. We are in the Beigua Natural Park.
